MTV premiered their brand new Video Music Awards commercial featuring Lady Gaga last night. The black-and-white promo ad is filled with scenes of the singer and her friends partying and dancing to “Government Hooker” and “Heavy Metal Lover” from Born This Way.

“I really wanted it to be real, and I knew that MTV wanted it to be a true documentation of my life, and as someone that lives halfway between reality and fantasy, so do all my friends,” she told MTV. “So I felt it would be an injustice to not sort of honor them in this short film that we did.”

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga was confirmed to open the award ceremony with a live performance at the Nokia Theatre. She said: “I would say that my life is one continuous performance and that in a way, all performances of mine relate to one another. You will not be disappointed.”

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 28th in Los Angeles. Lady Gaga is up for four awards, including Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message for “Born This Way” as well as Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for “Judas.”
