Lady Gaga will open the this year’s MTV Video Music Awards with a live performance in Los Angeles. The singer shared the big news on Thursday night during her live interview with MTV News, right after the television premiere of her latest music video for “Yoü and I.”

“It means the world to me,” Gaga said of opening the ceremony. “I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans.” While she wouldn’t reveal details about her performance, she promised: “You will not be disappointed.”

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 28th at the Nokia Theatre. Lady Gaga is up for four moonmen, including Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message for “Born This Way” as well as Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for “Judas.”
